Water Test Results

The Town of Bauline has received the results of provincial water testing completed last month. Under the Canadian National Guidelines for Drinking Water Quality, the acceptable limit for manganese is 0.12 mg/L (milligram per liter).

For residents connected to the Town’s water supply, the most recent test indicates manganese levels at 0.51 mg/L — a concentration that significantly exceeds the National Guideline. As a result, the matter has been referred to the Medical Office of Health, Dr. Itai Malkin, MD, MSc, CCRP, FRCPC, for professional recommendations.

Dr. Malkin advises the following precautionary measures for residents using the Town water supply:

Infants under 1 year of age,
Newborns and,
Pregnant women

should not use Town water for drinking or mixing infant formulas at this time.

Please note: No further advisory will be issued by the Dept. of Health at this time. The Town will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates, as necessary. If you have questions, please contact the Town Office. Thank you for your cooperation.

Change in Dumping Procedure at Bonfire Hill – Effective Immediately, dumping at Bonfire Hill is by appointment only.

This change was made to ensure safe, responsible and environmentally sound use of the site.

Unauthorized dumping is not permitted and may result in penalties.
